I found clarity to begin a new, healthier, happier life.

“When we first started working together I was perplexed, my mind racing with fearful thoughts of abandonment, meaninglessness, and hopelessness. Lisa immediately gave me hope that I would navigate through the lies and find the truth about the situation. My overall experience with Lisa was life changing. Lisa met me where I was at in a time of crisis and helped me navigate through the fog of lies and false beliefs. On the other side of that I found clarity to begin a new, healthier, happier life.”

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

what is DBT coaching?

Comprehensive DBT Therapy is one of two evidence-based methods of BPD treatment.

During DBT coaching sessions, clients will learn and practice skills proven to be effective for regulating the intensity of emotions, including tolerating distress without making things worse. We will promote mindfulness and determining core values and character strengths

We will also work at being effective in getting, maintaining, and strengthening positive relationships and ending toxic ones.

Some of our DBT coaching sessions utilize small groups, where we do role playing, video and gaming modalities. This helps to forge some of those positive relationships and model healthy interactions with others.

Individual DBT coaching sessions are also available for anyone who prefers to work on these skills in a one-on-one setting. This can be useful for those with more personal issues, or to address more specific, focused problems they’re facing in areas such as relationships, work, general mental health, values clarification, mindset, goal setting and accomplishment, college, divorce, and other transitions.

Sessions are available in either 60 or 90 minute intervals over Zoom, and while some find it helpful to continue having sessions for years, many show positive improvement in just 4-6 weeks. Everyone experiences their emotions differently, so there is no “right” answer to how long you should attend our DBT coaching sessions – there is no contract or commitment, so that is something we can help you determine together.

For people suffering from depression, anxiety, self harm, suicidal thoughts, OCD, borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, substance abuse disorders, or who haven’t been diagnosed but are looking to build coping skills for their emotional response, there is help for you.

DBT coaching is an evidence- based method of BPD treatment that is shown to work consistently, but it isn’t just for that! DBT coaching can help with any of the aforementioned symptoms by helping you become more emotionally grounded.

I am a former psychiatric and ER nurse with extensive training and experience in Trauma Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST) and have created and developed treatment programs, training and professional/community presentations for a variety of mental health issues. I have intensively trained in Trauma Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST), treatment of eating disorders, and Internal Family Systems, all of which inform my coaching.

As a DBT coach, I build my coaching around relationships. The biggest difference for me between coaching and nursing is that I am able to forge closer, long-term relationships with clients and truly help them to improve their quality of living over time.

Working as a DBT coach, I can also offer text coaching – I believe it is important for clients to have access to their coach between sessions, especially during times where their developing skills may be immediately applicable. Being a DBT coach allows us to have flexibility in our meetings, which means you can have support when you need it the most.

That’s what I’m passionate about – helping to make the biggest impact on clients so they can remove impediments to a life worth living.

Undergoing DBT treatment for BPD is shown to work, but it is a big commitment. That’s why we start many coaching relationships with a 15-minute initial telephone consultation to determine fit. and to establish expectations and readiness.

DBT coaching can show results in as few as 4 sessions, but it does require clients to commit to those sessions, as well as additional work outside of them, and frequently it can require commitment of several months for the best results.

I am also able to refer clients to licensed professionals or hospitals in an emergency situation – these coaching sessions are not therapy, nor is it a substitute for therapy. In the event that someone needs more immediate, critical help, I am able to recognize that and connect you with someone who can help.

However, this all starts by taking the first step. Your life is worth living to the fullest. I will do everything I can to help you discover it. Contact me today and take that first step.
